Heavenphetamine is a duo from Japan composed of Hiroki Oda (keyboard/vocals) and Sara Oda (drums/vocals). Their idiosyncratic style is a blend of elements from krautrock, psychedelia, synthesizer music, post-punk, indie rock and acid house, with a subtle Japanese flavor.
The band synchronizes acoustic drums with electronic sequences created through synthesizers and loop pedals, which results in electro-influenced compositions that still retain an organic and punky edge, accompanied by melodic Japanese vocals.
Heavenphetamine has brought their music to all kinds of venues, from squats to major festivals such as Transmusicales Festival or Tallinn Music Week, has performed several times in the war-torn cities of Ukraine and even recorded with local musicians. Their first full-length album ‘The Sun on a Winter Day’, recorded in Kyiv amidts air raids and blackouts, was published in August 2024 by the Ukrainian label Kontrabass.
