Wayne Eagling – Solymosi Tamás / Pjotr Iljics Csajkovszkij: A diótörő

2025-12-08T18:00:00.000Z

Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker has been an essential part of Christmas preparations around the world for decades, and this is also true of the Budapest Opera House. Paying tribute to the memory of the previous version, which had been in the repertoire for many years and is now almost a museum piece, a new production was created for Christmas 2015, following the traditions of classical ballet but meeting the expectations of 21st-century dance and visual arts. The classical music was set to a new fairy-tale ballet choreographed by Wayne Eagling, an internationally renowned specialist in The Nutcracker, and Tamás Solymosi, the company's director. For the first time in the history of the Hungarian National Ballet, such a world-renowned artist has created a choreography tailored to the members of the company and taking into account local characteristics, presenting the magic of Christmas to the audience in an even more spectacular and dance-filled version.
