What would have become of me if Dominik had married me? If he had danced with me at the prom? If I hadn't hated him, but kissed him instead? If I had been the beauty queen? What would have happened if I had never left here? What would have happened if things had turned out that way? What would have happened if Dominik's parents had built us a house on the hill, on the street where the rich people live, and we had lived there with our perfect family, he would have worked, and I would have stayed at home with the children? What if the machine throws that out? What if I had been born into a rich family like you, Tamara, my pink feather, instead of drifting from one job to another and living day to day?

In her breathtaking, ecstatic monologue of rage, Anne Haug's heroine raises questions about origin, identity, departure and return, envy, life dreams and the harsh reality. And whether revenge can be a satisfactory answer to all of these.
