Schedule
The focus of Olya's art and the basis of her research is her own life and background. Born and raised in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia, she has moved twice since then to another country and culture, far from her family. The trauma of immigrants, the loss of relationships, closed borders, the disappearance of memories of the motherland and of childhood, the trauma of attachment in the context of relocation and current politics: all these are the inspiration for her art and the subject of her research.
In his series "The forest of unrooted trees" he identifies people with trees. Trees that are symbols of lineages, bloodlines, roots and one's attachment to place. He often uses severed threads and strands, alluding to broken ties and drawing attention to their future impact on people's lives.
Embroidery is seen by most as a traditional female skill, passed down from generation to generation (including in Olya's family), which is why she has chosen this form of expression for her art. It allows her to work with the canvas as a traditional fabric and not just see it as a flat surface in painting. References to femininity are very important in Olya's art, as women are seen in the past and present as the traditional family cohesive, simultaneously giving new life, maintaining relationships and building families.
Location
EASY Art Space
An EASY option in Buda: for a drink, an exhibition, a DJ set and more recently, film screenings near Nemdebar, 101Bistro and Pingrumba. Széll Kálmán Square is buzzing again, and the aforementioned easy-does-it art space is one of the best examples of this.
