On 3 August, the sounds of a very special concert will be heard in the trees of the Chapel Garden: the legendary lines of a film that was banned, but eventually became a cult classic, đ™†đ™€đ™„đ™–đ™šđ™Żđ™ đ™Șđ™©đ™źđ™–, will be brought to life by the author and his orchestra.

Words of Låszló Hobo Földes for the Kopaszkutya concert:

"After many years of abstinence, I was convinced to support the release of the Kopaszkutya vinyl record with a concert. It was not easy, as JĂłzsef KƑrös, Egon PĂłka and JĂĄnos SzĂ©nich are no longer with us. We played the concert with great success and joy and decided to go on a national tour with the Kopaszkutya show.

The film was not, but the record was banned in 1981 and only released in 1993. Of course it wasn't Egon's music they had a problem with, since a G major chord can't be reactionary, but I still don't understand what their problem was with "Tobacco road", since "Misery begat, the road bred..." would have been a criticism of capitalism, which was already in the process of rotting, had it appeared.

And the "Cake" was inspired by the pastry masterpiece sent by the late Miklós Jancsó for the birthday of the late Comrade György Aczél, so the tasteless "I'll stack, stack, stack, and then I'll break..." and the cheeky and cynical "I'd cut it down from the inside like a tree with a worm..." shut the door.

The album was put, if not in the bin, then in the freezer, and only the unstoppable love of the public saved it from freezing to death.

So now, after 43 years, it has been released on vinyl by Grund Records on a different medium.

And this year, in the country's big cities, it will be played: "...And then every Hungarian child will eat cake..."

I wrote this in 1980 and since then we have been waiting, together with you and my present-day colleagues, for "MAJD".

Yours sincerely, Hobo"
