#olvasniszabad x Felefánt

2024-05-02T17:00:00.000Z

Although most people traditionally think of reading as a solitary genre, the #olvasniszabad (#readingforall) initiative shows that not only is it equally functional as a collective activity, it offers the participants a new form of experience. There are countless ways that literature and music can connect to each other, and over the course of this evening, everyone present can become part of a new and unusual expansion of this fertile contact zone.

Schedule

While the communal reading and the conversation with the evening's special guest in and of themselves already promise to make for a meaningful programme, this time around the event will be further enhanced by a concert experience. Fans of the band Elefánt will have easily deduced from the title that the common theme in this case can be found in the person of Csaba Szendrői. Not only known as a singer, he is also active in the literary scene with his poetry. At the same time, as the creator of the #olvasniszabad movement and programme series, he has developed a way of promoting reading that preserves the intimate nature of the activity while also providing a shared experience. The pairing of the two projects will not be the only instance in which literature and music appear together during the evening, as the invited guest is himself engaged in both branches of the arts. Serving as moderator in order to ensure that everything unfolds with a logical structure will be editor, journalist and presenter Dóra Mencseli. Though there are many people who can say that they have enjoyed a great concert experience at Müpa Budapest, hardly anyone ever came here specifically for the purpose of reading. On this occasion, however, you are not only allowed to bring any form of reading material - it is even encouraged!
