2024-11-09T19:00:00.000Z
The Michał Aftyka Quintet comes from a new generation of Polish improvisational music. Their music conveys the emotions experienced by modern man, be it the shameless indulgence in the present moment, the confusion caused by discredited theories or the fear of the development of high technology.

Their work is influenced by both the contemporary German scene (Petter Eldh, Christian Lillinger, Robert Landfermann, Elias Stemeseder) and by some American jazz (Vijay Iyer, Steve Lehman, Mark Turner). Their debut album, Frukstrakt (2023), won the Polish equivalent of the Grammy, the Fryderyk Award, and was nominated internationally for one of the jazz world's most prestigious awards, the Deutscher Jazzpreis.
