Müpa Filmklub // Kovásznai György: Habfürdő (1979)

It hardly needs saying that if someone makes an animation film for adults, even in 1979, when Bubble Bath was made - a few years after the explosive success of Mattie the Goose-boy and Johnny Corncob - it is far from clear whether it would be capable of exploring current social issues. In the frames of the film, the sentiments and disillusionments of an entire generation are condensed into an urban love triangle. A musical? A sociographic period documentary? Or a bridge between the documentary genre and fictional animation? None of the above. It is a "tricky musical with a heart”, featuring the songs of János Másik in his debut as a film composer. The film club’s specially invited guest is János Másik, who composed the music for the film.
