RE-PATCHED is an international collaborative project that aims to reinterpret the legacy of Polish progressive composer Bogusław Schaeffer. The artists' collective explores Schaeffer's unconventional compositional methods, which fuse European avant-garde musical traditions with Eastern European cultural roots, bridging the cultural heritage of Eastern and Western Europe. The project aims to preserve and transmit Schaeffer's legacy to young composers of experimental and contemporary music.

Schedule

The RE-PATCHED concert will focus on Schaeffer's open scores, presenting iconic works such as the Non Stop graphic score, which allows performers to freely interpret and improvise, becoming a constantly evolving work where the boundaries between musical and visual art are blurred. Schaeffer was an interdisciplinary artist who worked not only in the world of music and theatre, but also in the visual arts. The concert will also feature prints that were not originally created as musical works.

The works of Bogusław Schaeffer will be accompanied by works composed by members of the RE-Patched ensemble, which pay tribute to the Polish composer.

The concert programme was compiled after a year of research with experts such as Polish composer and electroacoustic artist Marek Chołoniewski and composer and clarinettist Paul Pignon, who has worked in Sweden and Serbia, and Schaeffer's compositional methods and electronic music, who created his unique patch The Creature in the electronic studio of Radio Belgrade, which provided rich sonic possibilities for his improvisations with the EMS Synthi 100 and aimed to push the boundaries of electronic music. It's possible that at some point during the concert we'll hear The Creature!
