Regarded as a leader of a contemporary music movement that fuses Eastern and Western music, Tunisian-born Dhafer Youssef has succeeded in elevating the oud from its traditional role. The oud creatively confronts different musical genres: jazz, electro, rock, Turkish and Asian music.

Az Erkel Színház, Népopera néven 1911. december 7-én nyitotta meg kapuit. A többször is átalakított épület 1951 és 2007, valamint 2013 óta a Magyar Állami Operaház második játszóhelyeként funkcionál.
