Kulcsár Noémi Tellabor: SEIOBO

2025-03-29T18:00:00.000Z

A statue of Buddha with his eyes closed, a goddess descending onto the Noh stage, horses waiting to be dug up by Lake St Anne, the Venus de Milo, carefully guarded in a room of the Louvre, and voices speaking to us from below the earth...

In her latest performance, Harangozó Prize winner Noémi Kulcsár uses the language of dance to rework the texts of the Man Booker, Kossuth and Prima Primissima Prize winner László Krasznahorkai's collection of short stories Seiobo járt odalent (Seiobo Went Down There). The performance, which mediates between Hungarian and Japanese, traditional and contemporary cultures, will feature Tellabor dancers, students from the University of Dance and Kitti Hajszán, Tellabor's resident artist, as choreographer.

The quotes projected during the performance are from the traditional Japanese noh drama SEIOBO.

On 15 February 2019, Budapest's unique new cultural arena opened its doors: the new National Dance Theatre in Millenáris Park. The building, equipped with the latest theatre technology and featuring unique architectural solutions, offers two theatre halls and a chamber hall for dance lovers, as well as rehearsal rooms for professional dancers. The foyer of the building will also become a community space open to visitors to the park, giving Millenáris the opportunity to become even more part of the capital's bloodstream.
