TEXTIL – PARTITÚRA_Guided tour with Anna Regős & musical journey with György Szondy in minimalist music

In the exhibition hall of the Kunsthalle, textile artist Anna Regős will personally guide visitors through her collection exhibition. During the tour, visitors will learn about the artist's ideas and gain insight into the relationship between textile art and repetition.

Afterwards, we invite the audience on a musical journey in the lecture hall of the Kunsthalle. In connection with the exhibition, we associate contemporary minimalist musical works composed in the second half of the 20th century with pieces that have become part of music history. The construction of Anna Regős' textile compositions is fundamentally determined by sample elements, just as repetitive music is characterized by the temporal repetition of motifs and rhythms. The two genres appeal to different senses, but their roots are equally connected to the traditions of different cultures, often linked to rituals and spiritual practices.

Alongside the precise, brilliant, virtuosic, perfectionist minimalism of Philip Glass and Steve Reich, we evoke the more relaxed sound world of Terry Riley, as well as the lesser-known minimalist works of Julius Eastman, with their wilder, freer, more blurred edges. Then we take a peek into the rattling stone jug shaken by 85-year-old László Sáry Amadinda, and look around at the post-minimalist, sacred minimalist works taking shape in the diverse musical landscape.
