On a small, isolated island off the coast of Massachusetts, a psychiatric facility houses some of the United States’ most dangerous criminally insane patients. In the 1950s, when a woman convicted of murder inexplicably escapes from the heavily guarded institution, the director, Dr. Cawley, is forced to call for outside help. Two U.S. Marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, travel to the island to investigate and find the fugitive. Daniels must confront not only the obstructive psychiatrist but also his own inner demons…
