NEKED8, Ávéd János trió
When it comes to Christmas, most people first think of joy, love, togetherness, and peace. The NEKED8 vocal ensemble and the jazz trio led by János Ávéd want to show the other side of the holiday at their concert, because during Advent, feelings of joy are accompanied by doubts, loneliness, and a sense of hopelessness that suffocates our age. We can explore these emotional fluctuations – and at the same time the path of self-examination – through world-famous and lesser-known Christmas melodies at the joint concert of the two ensembles, where the fusion of classical music and jazz creates an exceptional atmosphere to accompany the Christmas journey.

Schedule
The members of the NEKED8 vocal ensemble are professional musicians: soloists and chamber singers who are open to both old and new works of vocal music. They unanimously believe that quality chamber music is based on concentrated joint work and the preservation of the individuality of the performers. With their concerts, they strive to provide a visceral experience through classical music in response to the traumas of our accelerating world.
János Ávéd is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger from Mindszent, an assistant professor at the Jazz Department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, and one of the busiest saxophonists on the Hungarian concert scene. His own formations are fundamentally characterized by the contemporary improvisational musical tradition and modern mainstream jazz sound, but he is also open to embracing and rethinking musical processes that are further removed from his experience. Pianist Máté Pozsár is a prominent figure on the Hungarian free jazz scene and head of the jazz department at the Bartók Conservatory. As a teacher, he has a great influence on the next generation of musicians, and his original vision and outstanding musical sensitivity result in ever-fresh developments. Drummer and composer Attila Gyárfás focuses his interest on free improvisation and exploring the sounds that can be produced by playing drums in unusual ways. He has performed at many major festivals and clubs across Europe, and his playing can be heard on more than thirty albums.
