In Joachim Trier’s new film, the director of The Worst Person in the World, Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father, Gustav, after a long time. The charismatic man was once a famous director, and he offers one of the roles in his comeback film to Nora. She turns down the part, which ultimately goes to an enthusiastic young Hollywood actress. The sisters find themselves in a difficult situation: they must navigate their complicated relationship with their father while also dealing with the fact that an American movie star has been dropped into the middle of their messy family dynamics.
