Betonba hímezve – Halász Rita író szubjektív tárlatvezetése

A subjective guided tour by writer and art historian Rita Halász.
“Working in a museum is a privilege. Once you experience it, you long to return, even if you later continue your career elsewhere. When I worked at the Hungarian National Gallery, the artworks slowly became part of my everyday life, almost like family.

One of my favorites is the Gothic collection. I am passionate about the old-faced baby Jesus figures, the S-shaped Madonnas with hollowed-out backs, and those charming, often smile-inducing solutions that reveal the human frailty of medieval masters. And there sits my favorite pilgrim from Zalaszentgrót, tired, at the foot of a mountain.
The contemporary collection is just as important to me. El Kazovszkij's wandering animal, Gyula Pauer's broken Maya, and Mariann Imre's Saint Cecilia, which is my most defining and powerful museum experience.
Without these works of art, my novel Embroidered in Concrete would never have been written. And not only would the book be different without them, but so would I.
