Schedule

Kim Ki-duk's name is perhaps best known in Hungary for his 2003 film Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring, but the South Korean director returned the following year with another highly successful film, Bin-Jip (also known as 3-Iron), which not only inspired the name of Harcsa Veronika's electronic music formation but, more importantly, earned Kim the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival. This film also marked his breakthrough into the European public consciousness. Now, more than 20 years later, Bin-Jip will once again be shown on the big screen as part of the CineKorda series.

The CineKorda series, a collaboration between Cinema Niche, Magyarhangya, and Corvin Mozi, aims to fill one of Hungary's largest cinema screens with rare, special films that are screened only once. The CineKorda series will offer new opportunities every few weeks, hoping to turn the experience of watching movies at Corvin Mozi’s 460-seat Korda Hall into a real community experience.

In Bin-Jip, Tae-suk (Jae-hee) is a silent drifter who finds refuge in empty homes, staying the night in each one. He’s not a typical squatter—his presence consists of subtle, almost redemptive gestures. Before moving on, he makes small repairs and tidies up, as if he wants to take care of the homeowners in their absence.

However, one day, in a seemingly empty house, he finds not silence, but a woman (Lee Seung-yeon) who has been abused. Their meeting unfolds without words, forming through glances and slow movements, gradually creating a rhythm of their own. Bin-Jip is an intimate, restrained work about how two strangers can build a connection without words, replacing speech with presence and movement.
