Eszter (Vivien Rujder) is a successful actress starring in a 1990s romantic comedy alongside the womanizing Bálint (Tamás Szabó Kimmel). In real life, however, the two actors playing the lovers cannot stand each other. At the end of filming, Eszter suffers an unexpected accident and falls into amnesia due to a head injury. To make matters worse, the story of the film becomes mixed with reality in her mind: she believes she is living in the 1990s, working as a hairdresser, and in love with Bálint, who is supposedly searching for her.

Her doctor (Lia Pokorny) prescribes keeping her in this belief to maintain her emotional stability. Over time, however, it becomes clear that sustaining the illusion of the 1990s is far more difficult than expected. The situation is further complicated by the headstrong Bálint and Eszter’s fiancé (Barna Bányai Kelemen), who wants to reclaim his bride and ensure their wedding takes place.

Bem Cinema

In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
