The Martin Listabarth Trio's new album, In Her Footsteps, follows in the footsteps of Viennese world traveler Ida Pfeiffer: all of the compositions were inspired by key moments in the life of Pfeiffer, one of the first female explorers, from Europe to the Middle East to Africa. The album blends modern jazz with influences from classical music and pop – with Tigran Hamasyan, Brahms and Radiohead serving as its compass – placing an emphasis on storytelling and melody. The bandleader was nominated for the Austrian Jazz Award in the Best Newcomer category in 2025. Following Postcards (2023) and Live in Vienna (2025), In Her Footsteps, released in February this year, is her third album with her own trio, which they will present on tour this year.
