1945 augusztusának egyetlen napján játszódik Török Ferenc legújabb filmje, melynek témája a második világháború utáni újrakezdés a vidéki Magyarországon. A görög tragédiákat idéző, mindössze néhány óra leforgása alatt játszódó dráma helyszíne egy felbolydult kelet-magyarországi falu, ahol ezen a napon mindenki a jegyző fiának az esküvőjére készül.
