4 + 4 Solos
Two nights. Four solos each evening. Eight artists standing alone on stage, carrying everything from concept to execution. Choreography, dramaturgy, scenography, sound, visuals, costume, and light, all woven together by a single voice, a single body.
For the past three weeks, these eight artists from six countries have been immersed in the School of Disobedience’s "Performance & Solo" Masterclass, an exploration of the most intimate, raw, and demanding form of performance. The solo.

ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS
"I exclusively work with and from solos. Even my trios are made up of solos that I arrange and compose later, this is a collage technique I use, probably coming from my visual art background. I enjoy creating solos, as they are always the outcome of something very personal and profound. A place where I can focus, where I can see my dancer entirely. This is an incredibly difficult and lonely medium. You are totally alone, only you. There is both a sadness in solos that I am probably drawn to, and something singular and poetic. As if making a solo would imply looking at a mirror. A sharp one. No place to fake, no place to pretend, no "as if". You can’t lie, you can’t cheat. The mask comes off. Your soul is naked. And you shine. A powerful and empowering medium."
- Anna Ádám, founder of the School of Disobedience
SCHOOL OF DISOBEDIENCE
The School of Disobedience is a new form of art education. Not an institution. Not an academy. But an ecosystem. A garden to cultivate and grow, a mirror to see and reflect, an ode to sincerity and generosity, a passionate and joyful platform for simple actions and profound changes.
Anna Ádám Studio
