Schedule

The meeting of Bunkócska (a communist labor anthem) and Nélküled (a contemporary nationalistic anthem) in six-part harmony. On the day of the election, we perform the wildest moments of the „culture war” for you.

A forgotten group of propaganda statues comes to life, mixing movement songs with „NER-pop,” singing out propaganda texts, infamous speeches, investigative articles, and state grant applications from the past 70 years. It turns out that it wasn’t just the crushed concrete of the old People’s Stadium (Népstadion) used to build the new Puskás Arena—cultural policy is repeating itself, too.

Agamemnon Makris’s statue, Singing Youth, was originally erected on the ceremonial path of the People’s Stadium; it wasn’t removed during the regime change and can still be seen today next to the Puskás Arena. The People’s Stadium (1953) was a symbolic building of the first Five-Year Plan, while the Puskás Arena (2019) is a symbol of the System of National Cooperation (NER)—monsters built from public funds, the first addressed to „the people,” the second to „the nation.”
