Bujdosó Trió

Mediterranean intoxication, Middle Eastern rapture, dreamy rumba, generous doses of psychedelia, improvisational adventures - these are the worlds evoked by the unique, unmistakably individual music of the Bujdosó Trio. Drawing on a myriad of sources, their music is a unique recipe: their music is essentially acoustic, with subtle effects, often with a taste of film music, and sometimes with a sound that is akin to the grittiness of New York avant-garde music (John Zorn, Marc Ribot). All of this adds up to a distinctive and inimitable sound, a completely new colour on the (world) music palette, perhaps best described as 'Byzantine surf jazz'.

The Bujdosó Trio was formed in the winter of 2011 and its members are from such important bands of the Hungarian alternative/jazz/world music scene as - without claiming completeness - Egy Kiss Erzsi Zene, Kampec Dolores, Kistehén, Meszecsinka, Specko Jedno, Ági und a Fiúk, Pop Ivan.

Their debut album, Gold for Leslie, released in December 2012, was hailed by critics as "an irresistibly attractive album". János Bujdosó's "sanguine, rule-following, instinctive, fundamentally lyrical guitar playing" and the songs on the album can be heard not only in the most prestigious and distinctive venues of the Hungarian music nightlife, from the A38 in Buda to the Zsolnay Negyed in Pécs, but have also been heard in France and the Czech Republic. The group's composer, János Bujdosó, is a tireless figure on the Hungarian music scene, having toured Europe with his bands, released 3 albums as a composer, composed or co-written for numerous other recordings, and composed incidental music for several films in his career.

In the year and a half of its existence, the band has become perhaps the most active and most frequently performing club band in Budapest: to the delight of their rapidly developing, enthusiastic audience, they appear week after week at the typical venues of Budapest's cultural and nightlife scene, always to rapturous success.
