Berka Ensemble

The Berka Ensemble was founded in 2003 by the leaders of the Berszán and Kavalkád orchestras (Szabolcs Endrődi and János Szalai-Gindl).In October 2008 they opened a dance house in the Pilinszky Literary Café, which has now grown into one of the largest string - Moldavian dance houses in Budapest. The dance house is now called Pipitér, where they take turns with the Zurgó Ensemble. For the past six months, the band has been singing the poems of Csángó poets alongside their folk music repertoire. Since 2009, the orchestra has been to Moldova three times, where they have played in dance houses in Chisinau, Diosegen, Frumosa, Gajdar, Outer Rechin, Leszpede, Magyarfalu, Somoska and Pustina. In October 2009, they held a concert and dance festival in Bucharest. In summer 2009 they were invited to the Csángó Festival in Jászberény. In February 2010 the band was invited to the XIV Csángó Ball in Petőfi Hall and in May to the Csángó Weekend in Egyházaskozár. They are currently working on the release of their first album, which they hope to release this year under the title "Let them go from sorrow".
