György Ferenczi and the 1-seater Pesti Rackák

The first Pesti Rackák band fuses the love of Hungarian culture and the rock'n'roll revolution. This is how a Kalotaszeg dawn fits together with the poems of Sándor Petőfi and Attila Gérecz as well as the music of Jimi Hendrix. Hungarian folk music, rhythm & blues, funky, reggae, hip-hop and groove elements play an important role in their basically fusion music. Their extremely energetic production brings a smile to the face of an evening full of information and humour.

The essence of the Petőfi songs in their show is perhaps best summed up by poet János Lackfi: "The Petőfi industry has been delivering songs tamed into a wedding for decades. Thanks to György Ferenczi and his companions, the real, merciless, uncompromising, bluesy-rocky, hard-rock Sándor is now booming. Hungarian teachers, Hungarians, teachers and non-teachers, attention!"

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
