Model/Actriz

Brooklyn's Model/Actriz (vocalist Cole Haden, guitarist Jack Wetmore, drummer Ruben Radlauer and bassist Aaron Shapiro) will be performing their latest album at the Lokal in August. Dogsbody, the band's debut album, is a coming-of-age album set between dusk and dawn. It's as much an exploration of love and loss as it is a sharp, piercing and violent ode to the explosive joy of life - the overwhelming brilliance of staring into the sun.

The music draws inspiration from the physicality and repetition of electronic music and the ceaselessly dynamic sounds of cityscapes and underground trains. The band is inspired by dance music and how it can be rebuilt, remixed or broken down into the core elements that keep a song intact and sharp. The record, co-produced and mixed by Seth Manchester (Lingua Ignota, The Body, Battles), feels almost tactile; written in starkly different environments (Shapiro's parents' Vermont home, Haden's grandfather's Pennsylvania cabin, the Pfizer building in Brooklyn, and the basement of the Tribeca art gallery The Hole), and recast as the band's own world. The music's tightly rhythmic, industrial, pounding sound sets the stage for singer Cole Haden's lyrical exploration - the city and all its dangers and temptations seep through the lyrics.

Schedule

Model/Actriz are known for their confrontational live shows, but the band's performances, like Dogsbody itself, are really about intimate moments shared between those present.

Despite the rough edges of Dogsbody's exterior, the weight of the music carries with it a reminder to take care of ourselves and the life that only we can build.

Location

Akvárium

As they describe themselves, it is Budapest's most frequented venue, which is also multifunctional. Akvárium is great for award ceremonies, afternoon coffees and, most importantly, concerts, thanks to the well-picked, cross-genre selection.
