Schedule
Artisjus award-winning Emma Nagy Quintet is the new generation of modern, contemporary jazz. Celebrating its sixth birthday this year, the band has come a long way in a short space of time. In addition to many concerts in their home country, they have performed at competitions and festivals in Italy, Poland, Spain and Slovakia.
Although the five members differ in many ways, it was clear from the beginning that they are able to work successfully as a unit... An important factor in shaping their sound is their experimental spirit, with equal weight in the compositions given to hard drum grooves, free improvisations, contemporary compositions in song form and other special solutions. This diversity is not an end in itself, but rather a way of allowing the orchestra to reach the deepest possible layers of chamber music on stage. Contrasts and dissonance, improvisation and diversity, joy and spleen, a sense of contemporary life and a grotesque, raw formulation, behind which a kind of dreamlike charm shines through.
Their most recent, Return, was released in 2023 on Morotva Records: "It's five songs that are as different and as similar as we are. We've come a long way with them, travelling the Hűvösvölgyi road and Italy, but we've poured our hearts and souls into these twenty-five and a half minutes."
Emma Nagy - vocals
Péter Cseh - guitar
Ábel Dénes - double bass
Krisztián Oláh - piano
Klausz Ádám - drums
After the concert, Perrin and Turner will be making some serious disco waves on the Danube.
