The Derya Türkan Ensemble will present a selection of Cantemir's works, as well as folk songs from the 17th century Bogdan province, thus introducing the universal language of his music. After living for a time in Istanbul, Cantemir also studied the musical traditions of the Ottoman Empire and introduced this tradition to Europe. The fusion of Eastern and Western music is a prominent feature of Cantemir's compositions. Motifs and melodies inspired by Ottoman music play a significant role in his works. During the concert, instruments such as the canun, the kamanja and the Turkish tambura, outstanding instruments of Istanbul music, will bring Cantemir's compositions and Moldovan folk music to life. Guest artist Dilek Türkan will perform songs composed in the 17th century.

The Bacchus Consort was founded in 2014 and its repertoire is mainly late Renaissance and early Baroque music.
