ena Dagadu is known to anyone who has set foot in Budapest at night or attended a festival in the last fifteen years. Her debut album First One became a milestone in Hungarian hiphop, and Lots of Trees, released ten years later, is one of the most versatile, diverse and exciting albums of the year, all brought together by Sena's magical personality.

The Accra, Ghana-born singer first ventured into the Budapest music scene in 2001 and soon became a member of the leading underground hiphop/dancehall group Gimmeshot Crew, but has also dived into almost everything from funk (Kamu) to Shakespearean sonnets with her characteristic panache. He has truly enchanted musicians with his ability to blend into music of any gender and style. He often appears as an invited guest in various DJ and orchestral productions, either as a pre-rehearsed show or as a freestyle improvisation using his own lyrics, poems and songs. Although never trained in music at school, his particularly sensitive ear allows him to respond and tune into what he hears in a quite exceptional way. What makes Sena's voice truly unique is her original, self-taught style.

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
