Health presents its new album in Budapest

Los Angeles industrial-rock band Health have just stepped off the stage of Budapest Park, where they played as guests of Bring Me The Horizon, and have already announced their autumn Budapest show, as they will return solo on 26 October to present their latest album Rat Wars at the A38 Ship.

Schedule

Health's new album Rat Wars is the most intense yet vulnerable album of their career. Yet somehow it's fitting that such a brutal collection of songs should also be the band's most comprehensive artistic statement. Meticulously constructed, aggressive details collide with achingly personal confessions and a strange, feral grace is coupled with icy gallows humour... surprisingly, it's all still entertaining as hell.

With Rat Wars, the band joins the ranks of pioneering hard music acts like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, who have redrawn the boundaries between metal, electronic music and pop music. They also speak directly to the young, enthusiastic online subculture. This could be The Downward Spiral for those with at least two monitors at home and a vitamin D deficiency.

Rat Wars captures all the fury and ambition they've been striving for on their previous records. It is their boldest statement on the madness and tastelessness of modern life.

Born in the heady grime of L.A.'s downtown noise scene, band members Jake Duzsik on singer-guitar, John Famiglietti on bass and drummer BJ Miller on drums intended their formation to be divisive, picking mere fragments of songs from backspun guitar pedals.

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
