Founded 40 years ago this year, the legendary Makám orchestra has been a key player in the Hungarian world music scene for decades. They started playing world music at a time when the term was just being born.

They have written modern music, songs that are still sung by generations, with knowledge of and respect for tradition. Their work is marked by two dozen albums; in 2019, they released a record entitled Budapest Night is About, a tribute to Endre Ady, whose poetry turned the attention of the band's leader, composer-lyricist Zoltán Krulik, towards new genres. In this exclusive concert, Makám will evoke the full 40 years of its history: the first set will be an instrumental one, and the second will delve into the treasure trove of the band's vocal era with Bori Magyar.
