Musical dictionary: suite
The Music Dictionary is a new series in the autumn sessions of the Hangadó Senior. We look at the most popular genres in music history. We started with the concerto genre and this time it's the suite. The genre is also a product of the Baroque era and its popularity has continued unabated into the 20th century. It has been reimagined and reworked by great musical eras and composers. Let's see how together! Who wrote the most popular suites? What is the secret of the genre's success?
Schedule
This afternoon we'll find out. Our new music season also includes a starter series, Music Dictionary, which aims to explore the characteristics of popular musical genres and examine where they have developed from and to over the centuries. The first entry in this dictionary was the concerto. We now turn to the genre of the suite. It started as a series of baroque dances, but where has it evolved over the centuries? Who shaped the structure and the characteristics, filling it with more and more beautiful music, and in what direction? Once again, we take a journey through the history of music and discover many interesting facts. And the audience can spend a pleasant Wednesday afternoon listening to music, singing and playing quizzes. The good mood and interesting stories will be provided by Dóra Tápai, choirmaster, secondary school singing and music teacher, and music educator of the Hungarian House of Music.
