Schedule
Can music be for everyone? The House of Hungarian Music's inspired architecture, transparency and openness provide a positive answer to this question. Our mission is the same as one of our slogans: let's play music - because music is an enjoyable, social, cooperative game in which everyone can participate actively, regardless of age. This is also at the heart of our social responsibility: to seek to connect with people living on the margins, with the organisations that support them, so that they can experience the healing and creative power of music, where the emphasis is not on separation but on interaction.
The House of Music is also celebrating its 3rd anniversary with a focus on social responsibility, with a charity evening and fundraiser to support the following three organisations. The total amount of tickets purchased will be divided equally between these three organisations.
The Social and Rehabilitation Foundation helps families with children and homeless people with temporary living difficulties, mainly in the XIV and XV districts. The Foundation runs a temporary home for families in two locations and a facility for the rehabilitation of homeless people. The Foundation's main mission is to provide housing, security and a chance for a new start for all families in need and homeless people living in its institutions. With nearly two hundred people and fifty-two families in housing, child welfare and social services, and a professional programme, they work to find lasting solutions to the problems of the people living in their institutions.
In the past, the Foundation has been able to organise music education sessions on an ad hoc basis during holidays, but in view of the importance of songs and songs in the musical education of young children, they would like to organise regular music and dance sessions.
The mission of the Gecko Foundation for Birth Defects is to identify and assist in the physical and mental development of children who need special therapeutic support due to premature birth or birth complications. Since its inception, the Gézengúz Foundation has developed the widest range of therapeutic tools and programmes available in Hungary. In previous years, this has included music therapy sessions, provided on an ad hoc basis, which the Foundation would like to continue, expanding it by combining underwater music listening and movement, given that experience has shown that this greatly accelerates development.
The Foundation supports more than 2,500 children and families a year through its nationwide system of care. The Foundation aims to provide health, educational, psychological and social support to families.
The Illuminate My Way Association works with disadvantaged children and their families in Kerecsend, one of the 300 poorest settlements in Hungary; It offers debt counselling, drug prevention, housing, sports and gardening programmes, mentoring on the labour market, support for children's catching-up by developmental pedagogues and child psychologists, support for healthy eating, public sanitation activities and, above all, family mentoring for the first 1,000 days to improve the life chances of newborn children, including providing pregnant mothers and young children with medicines and vitamins. In the past year, families in Shatterhand have turned to the Association for help in more than 1,000 cases, and the Association's staff give unconditional love and acceptance to 140 children a year.
Various elements of music education have already been introduced at the Magyary Károly Károly Primary School in Kerecsendi. The conditions for piano lessons have been provided for a long time. They would like to supplement this training with percussion and guitar lessons. Their aim is to show the community-building power of playing music together and, in the long term, to form their own orchestra, which will increase the self-esteem and acceptance of the children involved.
A fundamental part of the House of Music's mission is to help create a happier, healthier society through the medium of music. We who work here experience in our own lives and work every day what research has shown: people who have music in their lives, whether through listening or active involvement, not only live more joyfully, but also experience positive effects on a range of cognitive and emotional functions through experiencing the melody, rhythm and dynamic changes of music.
That's why we think it's important to bring this joy to as many people as possible through our auctions. Those who buy tickets to the evening can support the three organisations in three ways:
1.
2. The evening will be hosted by Nóra Winkler, editor, journalist and auctioneer.
3. Future plans for the three organisations include music-related development projects, which will also be up for bidding.
The bidding will be accompanied by a musical show featuring renowned artists performing unique, specially created productions - a full list of performers will be published soon! First up will be the 4th form of the House of Music's travelling programme, who will perform their own paraphrase of the hit song "Wiggle Away". They will be joined by a band of House of Music staff, some of whom play music as a hobby, some professionally, and together they will share their love of music with equal enthusiasm. Other performers include the now healthy young artist who has recovered with the help of the Gézengúz Foundation for Birth Defects, and Árpád Tóth, host of the House's popular Hangadó series, who will entertain the audience with his music history stand-up.
