Kérész Works 83.

2024-10-29T19:00:00.000Z

The Choreographic Works is a performance that is created in a single day. The artists of the company create a new, unique, one-off and unrepeatable performance event on a predetermined theme in one intense day. In this way, each Kérész Művek is both a premiere and a performance, a first and last performance. What happens that night will never be seen in that form again.

Schedule

An unusual, exciting and unpredictable event for artists and audience alike. No stage, no auditorium. Spectators and artists can sit at tables and chat informally, as in a café, while visual, musical and theatrical action is constantly happening around them.

The undefined genre of Kérész Művek might best be described as "contemporary variety show" or "performance art pub".

Each Kérész Művek is a full-length, self-contained and complete work, which at the same time transcends itself by being thematically linked to the next larger-format Artus performance, which requires longer preparation. In this way, the creativity of the artists who create an evening of Kérész Művek and their fresh and bold solutions in response to the theme raised inspire, prepare and continually build the next Artus presentation.

This is how Ulysses' Living Room, 1+1=1, SUTRA, Droplet Canon, Gates of Sword and Wind, Everything (also) and Touch Paradox performances, among others, were born.

We often invite guest artists to create an evening of Kérész Works. As well as theatre and dance, visual artists, musicians, inter-media artists, filmmakers and programmers, and sometimes national or foreign companies, are also involved in the creative work.

Location

Artus

Artus is an open, diverse intellectual and creative workshop, a meeting place for people, ideas and art.

Artus is both Gábor Goda's company, the Artus Studio - a studio in an abandoned factory building of 2000 square metres - and the collective of 30 artists who work there, as well as the Association, which provides the institutional backdrop.

Founded in 1985, Artus is an independent, contemporary, all-arts collective. We have created more than 100 performances and presented them in 25 countries. Since the beginning we have organised international projects, residencies and co-productions.

The Studio's regular programmes include performances by the Artus company, guest performances, visual arts exhibitions, music and other cultural events, as well as self-awareness and movement workshops.
