Schedule

Bachtrack praised the Luxembourgish cellist Benjamin Kruithof, winner of the 2022 Enescu Competition, for his "noble, singing, beautiful” playing. Although it would be impossible to list his previous accolades here, just as one example: his first CD was nominated for the prestigious OPUS KLASSIK 2022 award in four categories. In addition to performing as a soloist with illustrious orchestras, he is also active as a chamber musician. Together with his pianist partner, the Armenian Zhora Sargsyan, "who electrifies even empty halls”, he will play a programme of works by composers whose names start with the letter ‘B': in addition to Beethoven's final cello sonata and the one Benjamin Britten wrote for Mstislav Rostropovich, we will also hear a new piece by Britain's Sally Beamish, known for the oratorios and concertos she composes for world-famous soloists.

Nominated for the Rising Stars programme by: Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Philharmonie du Luxembourg
