The Trans House presents: Tariqa + Róbert Kerényi Szigony & Attila Gyárfás
Transzház is a collective of musicians and concert promoters. The focus of their activities is the exploration of the intersection of traditional world music and cross-genre improvisation. Their aim is to bring to life a series of events where music is present as a long process, similar to dance halls, folk pubs or even ritual events. The participating musicians always know the tradition in depth, ensuring that its deeper layers can work, keeping or even giving new context to these musical encounters. These occasions are part of a larger community experiment where multiple event formats, musical traditions and formations come together. They also have a social function, where participants dance, talk or just listen to the music.

The music of the Tariqa ensemble is an organic and unique fusion of Moroccan gnawa and Hungarian folk music, creating a new musical world.
Said Tichiti, a native of the Moroccan Sahara, brings with him the pulsating rhythms of gnawa trance rituals, the mystical melodies of Arabic macams and the effervescent energy of chaabi. Péter Bede and Ferenc Kovács are masters of jazz and Hungarian folk music, contributing to the success of this musical alchemy with the richness of their own style.Ádám Mészáros and András Halmos, experienced musicians of many formations, practitioners of afrobeat and improvisation, add further colour to this musical kaleidoscope.Tariqa's immersive concerts are ritual experiences where the audience becomes a participant, not just a listener.In today's isolation, there is a growing need for such transcendent communal experiences that can bring collective healing.No two concerts are the same, every performance is a new and unrepeatable journey.As William Burroughs put it, gnawa is "the world's oldest, 4,000-year-old rock'n'roll", and this tradition is brought to life in new form in the art of Tariqa.
On this evening, Tariqa and the duo of Róbert Kerényi and Attila Gyárfás Kerényi will perform separately and together. Tariqa is increasingly incorporating Hungarian folk music into its repertoire, which is no coincidence, as two of its members - Péter Bede and Ferenc Kovács - are authentic representatives of it.
