BUKTA IMRE // DUPLAGEREBLYE - OPENING
Opened by drMáriás and József Szurcsik
Imre Bukta presents exclusively new works at his exhibition at Godot Gallery, featuring both works on paper and oil paintings. In terms of their subject matter, one could say that they are genre paintings, but the artist's painting is much more than just life pictures of the Hungarian countryside.
Schedule
Lately, his motifs have been simplified, the so-called 'telling' seems to have taken a back seat, but the saturation of his painting imbues even the most ordinary story - on a village street or at the bottom of a garden - with a transcendent sublimity. A village man riding a bicycle is an unremarkable, ordinary event for anyone else, for Buktas it is a spiritual phenomenon, a way of elevating the everyday.
Anyone who has seen his highly successful exhibition "Let's cultivate our gardens" is guaranteed to have a new experience of painting, because Bukta never settles, is not a prisoner of himself, but is constantly seeking new ways to develop his painting.
The exhibition is on view until 14 December from Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 2pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
