The signature of Leonhard Skorupa can be felt on every orchestra he has ever been a member of. The Viennese saxophonist-clarinetist is a master of surprises and wry humour - one thing is for sure, he has never been a killjoy. His Sketchbook Quartet has a lively, contemporary sound, grounded in the jazz tradition, but they have no problem integrating influences from straight-ahead jazz to surf rock.

Schedule
Their refreshingly unusual music could pass for chamber jazz, if it weren't for the strong syncopated rhythms and uninhibited overtones of rock and roll that reappear time and time again. In any case, the group has made a major contribution to the Austrian jazz scene's growing confidence, international presence and popularity in recent years. This time, we can expect a fresh and vibrant sound from them, celebrating a distinctly modern, joyful and spiky eclecticism.
