Nedko Solakov: A Cornered Solo Show #5
The Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to present Nedko Solakov's humorous, site-specific installation in the corner of the museum's lobby, next to the cloakroom. Solakov tells the story of an artist who, in response to external expectations, decides to radically change his worldview - turning upside down in search of a new perspective.
"The Cornered Solo Exhibition No. 5" marks the 35th anniversary of the museum's founding and the 30th anniversary of Solakov's solo exhibition The Collector of Art. Cornered Solo Show #5 will be presented on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the museum's opening and the 30th anniversary of The Collector, the Collector's Collection (2023), coinciding with the purchase of a series of 12 drawings by Solakov for the museum (Correctness, 2021) from the Ludwig Foundation in Aachen. The artist will donate the installation Cornered Solo Show #5 to the museum after the exhibition, as well as his three-part series of drawings Bad Moves (2023).

About the series
The "Cornered Solo Show" project began in 2021, when the artist approached prominent museum directors and leading curators with a request to secure an "unremarkable" corner of the building - a space not used for exhibitions but easily accessible to the public. So far, four exhibitions have been realised in major European museums, each telling a different story, tailored to the specificities of the space: #1 MUDAM - Museum of Contemporary Art, Luxembourg (2021) #2 MAXXI - National Museum of 21st Century Art, Rome (2022) #3 Upper Belvedere, Vienna (2023-2024) #4 National Gallery, Palota, Sofia (2024)
Ludwig Museum
The Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Müpa, is the first museum in Hungary to exclusively collect contemporary art. In addition to a permanent exhibition of the collection donated by the Ludwigs and a number of temporary exhibitions, the museum aims to raise awareness of the works and their creators through special publications and a variety of art education and art education programmes.
