Regarded as a leader of a contemporary music movement that fuses Eastern and Western music, Tunisian-born Dhafer Youssef has succeeded in elevating the oud from its traditional role. The oud creatively confronts different musical genres: jazz, electro, rock, Turkish and Asian music.
His music bridges different cultures, combining traditional Arabic melodies with modern jazz improvisation and electronic sounds.
