Bartók Béla: A fából faragott királyfi

This violin-soprano saxophone-piano transcription of The Wooden Prince is the first chamber music version of Béla Bartók's masterpiece since its birth. Students of the Bartók Conservatoire will also collaborate with composer-students from foreign universities to interpret special transitions, adding new passages inspired by the music and plot of the original piece at five points in the musical process, with additional chamber ensembles performing.

The young foreign composers will greet the programme and talk about their works in short video messages, preceded by commentaries on ethno jazz movements inspired by the musical culture of the country concerned, with the participation of students from the jazz and folk music departments.

The plot of The Wooden Prince is also brought to life by video. The visual elements are the work of students from Konzi and the School of Education. The performance provides an exciting panorama of artistic endeavours around the world, focusing on Bartók's enduring genius.
