If May is almost summer, then Monday can be a bit of a weekend too: we've got a great internet star programme for you, with Eric Arn from Vienna and Liam Grant coming straight from overseas to put a smile on your face with local support. A slow ball of acoustic guitars, with darker electronic clouds creeping up and over the horizon.

< Eric Arn >

The Vienna-based but American-born guitarist is a member of Primordial Undermind, Vienna Improvisers Orchestra and Alle Formen Trio, in addition to his solo project. He has released numerous albums as a soloist, duo and trio, and is happy to present his compositions, experiments and other performances throughout Europe and North America.

< Liam Grant >

Liam Grant is a representative of the American Primitive movement, a style that combines neo-traditional county-folk elements with unusual compositional and improvisational solutions. He views his guitar as a narrative-forming tool with which to create short symphonies and modal epics, while drawing inspiration from his personal experiences and his unique relationship with the New England landscape. His debut album, Amoskeag, was released on Carbon Records in 2023. He tours mostly in North America and throughout Europe.

< Márk Csiaki and Pál Hegyi >

Márk Csiaki has mostly played in bands from Tatabánya (Elzárt Világ, Zeng, Railway Station Dog). He released his first single in spring 2024 and in autumn 2024 he became the singer of Alva, a Budapest grunge band. He loves the 90s and craft beers. This evening he will show his quieter side with acoustic instrumentation. There may be nodding songs in the repertoire at times. Guitarist Pál Hegyi ( Railway Station Dog) will be on hand to help.

< Gáspár Thorpe >

My journey with the guitar so far has taken me to classical, jazz, and more recently I have delved into various folk music. Instrumental improvisation has been an integral part of my life since I was a little boy, and my compositions have been born out of it. These songs are inspired by Spanish classical and flamenco guitar techniques, Eastern European folk ornaments, and West African rhythms and melodies. The mood is one of instrumental storytelling.
