CineKorda /////////// Do the Right Thing /////////// Spike Lee /////////// Corvin /////////// magyarante /////////// magyarante /////////// Cinema Niche

The aim of Cinema Niche, a collaboration between magyarante and Corvin Cinema, is to fill one of Hungary's largest cinema screens with special, once-in-a-lifetime film rarities that are not screened elsewhere. Every few weeks, CineKorda will offer new occasions where we hope to make cinema a real community experience with as many of you as possible in the 460-seat Korda Hall of Corvin Cinema.

In June, CineKorda will screen Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, set on a sweltering summer day - a strikingly nuanced, form-fitting work that has been written into the history of contemporary American cinema along the lines of black culture, hip hop and social tensions. More than thirty years after its release, it remains sharp, accurate and above all entertaining.

Schedule

The story of a single scorching summer day in the heart of Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy neighborhood, Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing is a vibrant portrait of a community where the everyday gestures slowly reveal the tensions that inevitably surface. The film celebrates not only the power, humour and rhythm of black culture - Public Enemy echoes through the streets on Radio Raheem's blaring tape recorder - but also speaks passionately about the invisible boundaries that define a neighbourhood and its inhabitants. The stories of Mookie, Sal, Mother Sister, Buggin Out and the others pulse with the lightness of summer and the weight of racial tension. Do the Right Thing is one of the pinnacles of American cinema - a vibrant, colourful, angry and joyful film that lives on today exactly as much as it did when it was first released.

What is CineKorda?

The aim of the series, a collaboration between Cinema Niche, the Hungarian Ant and Corvin Cinema, is to fill one of Hungary's largest cinema screens with special, once-in-a-lifetime film rarities that are not shown elsewhere. Every few weeks, CineKorda will offer new occasions where we hope to make cinema a real community experience with as many of you as possible in the 460-seat Korda Hall of Corvin Cinema.

Under the CineKorda banner, you'll be able to enjoy restored classics, personal favourites from filmmakers who are still leading the way in international film discourse.

We want to create a meeting place where the cinematic experience doesn't end when the lights go up, where the audience shapes the community and where you can have a cinematic experience that will stay with you for a long time.
