Discover the boundaries of post-rock at Alex Henry Foster’s concert – the former frontman of Your Favorite Enemiesbrings his breathtaking musical world to Budapest with his backing band, The Long Shadows!
According to Rolling Stone, Canadian Alex Henry Foster is an “unexpected DIY artist” who has built an impressive musical universe by following his own path and processing his own pain. Expect dreamlike post-rock explosions, gripping storytelling, and improvisational ecstasy – all drawn from his debut solo album Windows in the Sky and its reimagined version, Standing Under Bright Lights, recorded at the legendary Montreal Jazz Festival.
The live shows quickly became unmissable experiences, earning critical acclaim for Foster and The Long Shadows, highlighting their unique, improvisational, and unpredictable musical character. Since then, he has released two new albums and a live recording, with his latest album, A Nightfall Ritual (Live in Köln, July 27, 2024), released on May 16.
Special guest: BUZZ – a Budapest-based post-rock trio formed in 2019. Their music transcends traditional genre boundaries, featuring floating and pulsating instrumental themes that alternate and evolve. Each composition is treated as a complex narrative, telling a story while leaving its interpretation to the listener.
With their 2020 debut single Valium, BUZZ quickly became one of the rising stars of the Hungarian post-rock scene and gained international attention. Their first three-track EP received acclaim from the Hungarian music press as one of the year’s most important releases. In late 2022, they released their debut full-length album Blissful Dystopia, blending post-rock and psychedelic rock elements across nine tracks. One track from the album was featured on WherePostRockDwells’ “Best of 2022” alongside acts like Oh Hiroshima, My Sleeping Karma, Russian Circles, Toundra, MONO, and Lost in Kiev.
Their upcoming EP, planned for early 2024, promises even bolder experimentation, inviting listeners on a truly extraordinary musical journey.
Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
