József gets married, then, with that momentum, becomes a sailor and sets off on a long voyage. He leaves his new wife and mother behind in their cramped apartment in a housing estate. Mari (Lili Monori) does not get along very well with her mother-in-law, Ágnes (Éva Ruttkai), who constantly nags her daughter-in-law. Paper-thin walls, prefabricated romance, a few yellow roses, and a succession of lovers brighten up the gray everyday life as the two women wait for József to return home.
The aim of the MASZEK Film Club is to showcase underrated, unjustly neglected Hungarian films that deserve more attention. After the screenings, we talk to the invited filmmakers to learn as much as possible about the films, life, and anything else that comes to mind. The film club is hosted by Eszter Kisházy, Bálint Dezső, and Márk Beleznai.
