¡Viva el Flamenco! - stage talk and concert
¡Viva el Flamenco! - Podium discussion and concert on the occasion of World Flamenco Day
Closing event of the joint course organized by the University of Pécs Music Department and the Pécs Flamenco Association.
Podium discussion:
In the first half of the evening, Zoltán Beck, associate professor at the Department of Romology at the University of Pécs and professional director of the PTE Music University, will talk with members of the Flamenco Sopianae ensemble.
Flamenco concert:
The Flamenco Sopianae ensemble stages productions based on the improvisational collaboration of singing, guitar, and dance, following the traditional foundations of the genre. The members have different artistic backgrounds, different personalities, and have arrived at the world of flamenco via different paths. This diversity melts into an organic whole during each concert, which the audience also becomes a part of.
Flamenco is a living, constantly renewing genre that was created as a mixture of European and Eastern cultures. Tradition and the 21st century coexist peacefully in it, as do the different temperaments and musical worlds of the Andalusians, Gypsies, Moors, and Jews.
Its elemental power lies in the community, in the harmony and common language of those who practice it...
Here and now... together!
