Schedule
We often forget that jazz improvisation already had a strong tradition in Hungary back in the 1970s, and fortunately the legends of that first era are still among us today. We only have to reach out our hands to touch them. Their influence can still be felt today, and the tradition is carried forward by the generations that followed them.
The classic formation of 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, founded fifty years ago, features 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐬𝐨́ 𝐈𝐬𝐭𝐯𝐚́𝐧 (saxophone), 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐤𝐨̋ 𝐑𝐨́𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 (double bass), and 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐨́ 𝐈𝐬𝐭𝐯𝐚́𝐧 (drums). Each of them belongs among the giants of Hungarian jazz history. Their elemental free music still follows its own path today—fresh and alive.
In addition, another trio will be performing that evening: 𝟏𝟐𝐳, who hold an exceptionally respected position within the middle generation. The trio of 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨́𝐟 𝐌𝐚́𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧 (electronics), 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐤𝐢 𝐀́𝐫𝐨𝐧 (drums), and 𝐒𝐳𝐚𝐛𝐨́ 𝐁𝐚́𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐭 (guitar, electronics) has also been playing together for a long time. Their music carries forward the traditions of jazz improvisation while blending them with experimental electronic music and folk influences.
Surely an evening you don’t want to miss.
