Schedule

By Storm – New project by Injury Reserve members to debut in Budapest.

By Storm, formed as the successor to Injury Reserve, will take over Turbina Cultural Centre on April 16th with their new album. The duo, comprised of Ritchie With and Parker Corey, arrives as part of their „My Ghosts Go Ghost” album launch tour, which was just released days ago.

Experimental rap trio Injury Reserve formed in Phoenix, originally consisting of rappers Ritchie With and Stepa J. Groggs, and producer Parker Corey. Their mixtapes, „Live From The Dentist” (2015) and „Floss” (2016), garnered significant underground acclaim, a momentum they further built upon with their self-titled debut album „Injury Reserve” in 2019.

However, in June 2020, the band’s momentum was tragically broken by the passing of Groggs. The subsequent album, „By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” was largely completed before Groggs’ death, featuring his contributions. They recently decided that to honor the individuality of all three members, they would no longer create music under the Injury Reserve name. Thus, since 2023, Ritchie and Corey have been releasing music as By Storm, effectively carrying forward their collaborative work within Injury Reserve.

Their first track released as By Storm was the single „Double Trio,” which simultaneously paid homage to their former band’s legacy and paved a new path forward. „My Ghosts Go Ghost,” released on January 30th, continues this trajectory: it arrives almost unexpectedly, yet with maximum impact. The album’s structure is simple, yet dense enough to completely immerse oneself in. It was created with a ‘back to basics’ mindset („what if we made nine truly strong songs and put them in a good order?”), and explores themes such as loss, fatherhood, capitalism, the weight of experience, and moving past difficult moments. It is simultaneously a debut album and the continuation of a journey that Ritchie and Corey began ten years ago in Phoenix when they first started making music together. „Over the past decade, we’ve built our identity, and every record has been about understanding more and more what kind of band we want to be,” says Ritchie. „That’s not changing.” With „My Ghosts Go Ghost,” old fans can hear Ritchie and Corey refine their craft in an increasingly sophisticated way, while new listeners can benefit from the experience and clarity of thought that has led them to this point.

Ticket sales for the concert begin on February 4th at 10 AM on www.livenation.hu and www.funcode.hu.
