One of the best-known stories in the romantic world of Russian fairy tales tells of an eternal but tragic love, the story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette, who is struck by an evil curse. It explores the eternal struggle between good and evil and the all-conquering power of love. Tchaikovsky's first ballet is famous not only for its spectacular choreography, but also for its deep emotional content.
Swan Lake is now a symbol of classical ballet and one of the most frequently performed pieces, posing a special technical and artistic challenge, as the same ballerina plays both Odette, the pure, innocent white swan, and Odile, the seductive, manipulative black swan. The iconic scene in the second act, the 32 fouetté en tournant, is one of the greatest technical challenges in ballet history. This feat tests not only the dancer's physical strength but also her artistic expressiveness, while the swan in her snow-white tutu has become a symbol of the noblest tradition of dance.
