Színtér Poetry

How does a poem affect us when we lift it off the page? What happens to it when we don’t just read it, but give it a physical form? What if the lines don’t lie on pages, but move through space, stretch against one another, breathe? The Színtér team has created a reading performance evening that offers a glimpse into what goes on in the minds of young people engaged in theater and other arts—in the form of poetry. Fragments of thought, inner monologues, doubts, and desires come together into a mosaic-like whole that does not tell a story linearly, but rather reveals states of being. The evening is not built on a continuous plot, but on a structure composed of smaller scenes. The characters do not exist in the same space, yet they are connected to one another: through gestures, rhythm, sound, and gaze. They do not meet, yet they help each other’s stories come to life. The characters speak exclusively through poetry—every line spoken is an original composition. Here, the word is not an illustration, but an action. The poem is not read aloud, but takes place. This evening is an experiment in which poetry steps out of the book and becomes a live, shared experience.
